1. ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜੀਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ

1. therefore if thou wouldst live.

2. ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅਥਾਰਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਡਰੋਗੇ?

2. wouldst thou not be afraid of the authority?

3. ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ,

3. wouldst thou have practised on me for thy use,

4. ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੀ ਕਰੋਗੇ?

4. And if thou should'st reach the Waters of Death, what wouldst thou do?

5. ਤੂੰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ

5. thou wouldst have asked him, and he would have given thee living water

6. ਦੂਸਰਾ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, "ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਪੁੱਛੋ।"

6. the other said:"if then thou wouldst follow me, ask me no questions about anything until i myself speak to thee concerning it.

7. ਫਿਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੋ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਵਾਰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਚੱਖਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ। ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

7. then would we have let thee taste the double of life and the double of death; and then thou wouldst have found none to help thee against us.

8. ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, 'ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ, ਅਸੀਂ ਦੌੜੇ, ਅਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ; ਇਸ ਲਈ ਬਘਿਆੜ ਨੇ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਖਾ ਲਿਆ। ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਸਾਡੇ 'ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੋਗੇ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰੀਏ।

8. they said,'father, we went running races, and left joseph behind with our things; so the wolf ate him. but thou wouldst never believe us, though we spoke truly.

9. ਜੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਖਾਉਂਦੇ, ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪਛਾਣੋਗੇ; ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਤ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਦੀ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣੋਗੇ; ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।

9. did we will, we would show them to thee, then thou wouldst know them by their mark; and thou shalt certainly know them in the twisting of their speech; and god knows your deeds.

10. ਅਜਿਹੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੋ ਵਾਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਵਾਰ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਚੱਖਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ, ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕੋਈ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ।

10. in that case we would have surely made thee taste the double of the tornment of the life and the double of the torment of death, and then thou wouldst not find against us a helper.

11. ਅਜਿਹੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ (ਸਜ਼ਾ) ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਚਖਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ: ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ!

11. in that case we should have made thee taste an equal portion(of punishment) in this life, and an equal portion in death: and moreover thou wouldst have found none to help thee against us!

12. ਜੇਕਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਪਹਾੜ 'ਤੇ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਅੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਤੋਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਡਿੱਗਦੇ, ਟੁਕੜਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਟੁੱਟਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਦੇਖੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਅਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ (59:21)।

12. had we sent down this qur'an on a mountain, those wouldst have seen it falling down, splitting asunder, because of the fear of allah, and we set forth these parables to men that they may reflect(59:21).

13. ਉਹ ਅੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਦੀ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਸਹੁੰ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਕਹੋ, “ਸਹੁੰ ਨਾ ਖਾਓ; ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ (ਹੋਰ) ਵਾਜਬ ਹੈ; ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ, ਅੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਣੂ ਹੈ।

13. they swear their strongest oaths by allah that, if only thou wouldst command them, they would leave(their homes). say:"swear ye not; obedience is(more) reasonable; verily, allah is well acquainted with all that ye do.

14. ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿੱਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਸੀ, ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ: ਹੇ ਮੂਸਾ! ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਾਰੋਗੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਸੀ? ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹੁਣ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਜ਼ਾਲਮ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੋਗੇ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁਧਾਰਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੋਗੇ।

14. and when he would have fallen upon the man who was an enemy unto them both, he said: o moses! wouldst thou kill me as thou didst kill a person yesterday. thou wouldst be nothing but a tyrant in the land, thou wouldst not be of the reformers.

15. ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਸੁੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਸੱਜੇ, ਹੁਣ ਖੱਬੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਮੋੜ ਰਹੇ ਸੀ, "ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੈਲਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ। ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਮੋੜ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ, ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦਹਿਸ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ।

15. thou wouldst have thought them awake, as they lay sleeping, while we turned them now to the right, now to the left,' and their dog'stretching its paws on the threshold. hadst thou observed them surely thou wouldst have turned thy back on them in flight, and been filled with terror of them.

16. ਸੰਭਾਵੀ ਗੱਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੁਝ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਛਾਤੀ ਉਦਾਸ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ: ਉਸ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਖਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ? ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ, ਅਤੇ ਅੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਹਰ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ।

16. a likely thing, that thou wouldst forsake aught of that which hath been revealed unto thee, and that thy breast should be straitened for it, because they say: why hath not a treasure been sent down for him, or an angel come with him? thou art but a warner, and allah is in charge of all things.

17. ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੂਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੁਫਾ ਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਉਤਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਡੁੱਬਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖੱਬੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਗੁਫਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੀ ਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਏ ਸਨ। ਇਹ ਅੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੀਆਂ ਹਨ: ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਅੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਸੇਧ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਾਰਗਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਗੁੰਮਰਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਲਈ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧੇ ਰਸਤੇ 'ਤੇ ਚੱਲਣ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕੋਗੇ।

17. thou wouldst have seen the sun, when it rose, declining to the right from their cave, and when it set, turning away from them to the left, while they lay in the open space in the midst of the cave. such are among the signs of allah: he whom allah, guides is rightly guided; but he whom allah leaves to stray,- for him wilt thou find no protector to lead him to the right way.
