1. لہذا اگر آپ جینا چاہتے ہیں۔

1. therefore if thou wouldst live.

2. کیا آپ اتھارٹی سے نہیں ڈریں گے؟

2. wouldst thou not be afraid of the authority?

3. آپ اپنے استعمال کے لیے میرے ساتھ مشق کرتے،

3. wouldst thou have practised on me for thy use,

4. اور اگر آپ موت کے پانیوں تک پہنچ جائیں تو آپ کیا کریں گے؟

4. And if thou should'st reach the Waters of Death, what wouldst thou do?

5. تُو اُس سے مانگتا، اور وہ تجھے زندہ پانی دیتا

5. thou wouldst have asked him, and he would have given thee living water

6. دوسرا کہتا ہے، "اگر آپ میری پیروی کرنا چاہتے ہیں، تو مجھ سے کچھ نہ پوچھیں اس سے پہلے کہ میں خود آپ کو اس کے بارے میں بتاؤں۔"

6. the other said:"if then thou wouldst follow me, ask me no questions about anything until i myself speak to thee concerning it.

7. پھر ہم تمہیں دو بار زندگی اور دو بار موت کا مزہ چکھاتے۔ اور پھر آپ کو ہمارے خلاف مدد کرنے والا کوئی نہ ملتا۔

7. then would we have let thee taste the double of life and the double of death; and then thou wouldst have found none to help thee against us.

8. انہوں نے کہا، 'ابا، ہم نے دوڑ لگائی، اور ہم نے یوسف کو اپنی چیزوں کے ساتھ چھوڑ دیا۔ تو بھیڑیے نے اسے کھا لیا۔ لیکن آپ کبھی بھی ہم پر یقین نہیں کریں گے، چاہے ہم ایمانداری سے بولیں۔

8. they said,'father, we went running races, and left joseph behind with our things; so the wolf ate him. but thou wouldst never believe us, though we spoke truly.

9. اگر ہم چاہیں تو آپ کو دکھا دیں پھر آپ انہیں ان کے نشان سے پہچانیں گے۔ اور تم ان کو ان کی باتوں کی کج روی سے پہچان لو گے۔ اور خدا تمہارے کاموں کو جانتا ہے۔

9. did we will, we would show them to thee, then thou wouldst know them by their mark; and thou shalt certainly know them in the twisting of their speech; and god knows your deeds.

10. ایسی صورت میں ہم تم کو دوہرا عذاب زندگی اور دوہرا موت کا عذاب ضرور چکھاتے پھر تم ہمارے مقابلے میں کوئی مدد نہ پاتے۔

10. in that case we would have surely made thee taste the double of the tornment of the life and the double of the torment of death, and then thou wouldst not find against us a helper.

11. ایسی صورت میں ہم تمہیں دنیا کی زندگی میں برابر سزا کا مزہ چکھاتے اور موت میں برابر کا حصہ اور اس کے علاوہ ہمارے مقابلے میں تم کو کوئی مدد گار نہ ملتا۔

11. in that case we should have made thee taste an equal portion(of punishment) in this life, and an equal portion in death: and moreover thou wouldst have found none to help thee against us!

12. اگر ہم اس قرآن کو کسی پہاڑ پر اتارتے تو وہ اللہ کے خوف سے اسے گرتے، ٹکڑے ٹکڑے ہوتے دیکھتے، اور ہم یہ مثالیں لوگوں کے سامنے پیش کرتے ہیں تاکہ وہ غور کریں (59:21)۔

12. had we sent down this qur'an on a mountain, those wouldst have seen it falling down, splitting asunder, because of the fear of allah, and we set forth these parables to men that they may reflect(59:21).

13. وہ اللہ کی سخت قسمیں کھاتے ہیں کہ اگر آپ انہیں حکم دیں تو وہ (اپنے گھروں سے) نکل جائیں گے۔ کہو، قسم نہ کھاؤ۔ اطاعت (زیادہ) معقول ہے۔ بے شک اللہ تمہارے سب کاموں سے باخبر ہے۔

13. they swear their strongest oaths by allah that, if only thou wouldst command them, they would leave(their homes). say:"swear ye not; obedience is(more) reasonable; verily, allah is well acquainted with all that ye do.

14. اور جب وہ اس شخص پر گرنے لگا جو دونوں کا دشمن تھا تو اس نے کہا: اے موسیٰ! کیا تم مجھے اس طرح مارو گے جیسے تم نے کل کسی کو مارا تھا؟ اب تم زمین پر ظالم کے علاوہ کچھ نہیں رہو گے، تم اصلاح کرنے والوں میں سے نہیں رہو گے۔

14. and when he would have fallen upon the man who was an enemy unto them both, he said: o moses! wouldst thou kill me as thou didst kill a person yesterday. thou wouldst be nothing but a tyrant in the land, thou wouldst not be of the reformers.

15. آپ نے سوچا ہوگا کہ وہ جاگ رہے ہیں، جب وہ سو رہے تھے، جب کہ ہم نے انہیں اب دائیں، اب بائیں طرف موڑ دیا،" اور ان کے کتے نے دروازے میں اپنے پنجے پھیلائے۔ اگر تم ان کو دیکھتے تو یقیناً بھاگتے ہوئے ان سے منہ پھیر لیتے اور تم دہشت سے بھر جاتے۔

15. thou wouldst have thought them awake, as they lay sleeping, while we turned them now to the right, now to the left,' and their dog'stretching its paws on the threshold. hadst thou observed them surely thou wouldst have turned thy back on them in flight, and been filled with terror of them.

16. احتمال یہ ہے کہ جو کچھ آپ پر نازل کیا گیا ہے اس میں سے آپ کچھ چھوڑ جائیں اور آپ کا سینہ غمگین ہو کیونکہ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ اس کے لیے خزانہ کیوں نہیں بھیجا گیا یا اس کے ساتھ کوئی فرشتہ کیوں نہیں آیا؟ تم تو صرف ڈرانے والے ہو اور اللہ ہر چیز کا مالک ہے۔

16. a likely thing, that thou wouldst forsake aught of that which hath been revealed unto thee, and that thy breast should be straitened for it, because they say: why hath not a treasure been sent down for him, or an angel come with him? thou art but a warner, and allah is in charge of all things.

17. آپ نے سورج کو دیکھا ہوگا کہ جب وہ طلوع ہوتا ہے تو ان کے غار کے دائیں طرف اترتا ہے اور جب غروب ہوتا ہے تو ان سے بائیں طرف ہٹ جاتا ہے جیسا کہ وہ غار کے وسط میں کھلی جگہ پر پڑے ہوتے ہیں۔ یہ اللہ کی نشانیوں میں سے کچھ ہیں: اللہ جسے ہدایت دے وہ ہدایت یافتہ ہے۔ لیکن جس کو اللہ گمراہ کر دے، تم اس کے لیے کوئی محافظ نہیں پاؤ گے جو اسے سیدھے راستے پر چلا سکے۔

17. thou wouldst have seen the sun, when it rose, declining to the right from their cave, and when it set, turning away from them to the left, while they lay in the open space in the midst of the cave. such are among the signs of allah: he whom allah, guides is rightly guided; but he whom allah leaves to stray,- for him wilt thou find no protector to lead him to the right way.
